WELCOME

Welcome to Locke Domain!
- If you are looking for dogs of all breeds, Shakta City should be the place you visit. Dogs rule here, roaming the dead city in packs and gangs.
- If you are a more feral type, then you will find the wolves in the wilderness. Ranging as both loners and packs, the strong and proud wolves dominate their terrain.
- The outskirts of Shakta City is a dangerous place where you will meet both dogs and wolves. Watch your step, for no one truly owns these places.
- Following their canine companions are birds of any species called familiars. Bound to their partners by mysterious means, when one is hurt, the other is also affected.

 It's not Scary!
« Thread Started on Feb 23, 2009, 3:18pm »

Paws pressed the earth with an eerie certainty about them. The dark silence that lingered all about the passing shadows only concealed their black coverings. The only hint that there was any living presence in the graveyard at all that night was that distinctive flapping sound, the beating of wings against the cold air. And of course the flash of a pair of golden hues as they caught the moonligth every now and then. A black aud flicked back, though the movement went unseen in the darkness. There was that flapping, it was louder and had a more heavy quality to the sound. The bird was staying in roughly the same place. Her steely black eyes glinting in a thin glimmer of moonlight. She seemed agitated, it showed in the way her dark orbsflicked this way and that and her body was held tight and bunched up, clearly she was uneasy with the surroundings.

Suddenly a dark shadow crossed over the frost bitten grass, passing through the moonlight quickly. The movement was swift and smooth, almost like a wave softly rolling up against the sand, it had that same liquid shift about it. The pair of golden hues flashed as they caught the light only to vanish behind a gravestone, the much smaller shape of the raven remained in quick persuit. Finally a voice broke out over the silence, "Deki! What are we doing here? It's so creepy.." the sharp voice trailed off a little and the dark coals of her orbs took on a suddenly guilty look. She shifted uncomfortably on her perch atop a rounded gravestone and felt the burning of the golden gaze as it narrowed on her with that awfully angry and yet strangely calm look.

"Please Raven, don't tell me your afraid of a little old graveyard," th evoice was cool and soft, it had that sort of liquid sound to it slightly like his movements. It was un-nerving to the bird as she sat gazing blankly at him, trying not to let his words seem too true. "But why are we here?" came a shriek of hidden fear. Deki knew she was scared, she was always scared, but he felt almost comfortable here. Had it not been so close to the world of man he would have felt more comfortable, the way his fur blended with the darkness and made him almost invisible. "Look, I just need to rest a while and then we can go. I promise. Besides, its not scary. Think of it as a field, covered in stupid filled in holes that have clumps of stone dropped on top of them. Abandoned and in the dark."

His smirk didn't make her feel any better, instead it made her cast her gaze about at the area he had just described. "You mean like a graveyard at night," she cooed and he nodded with a slight snickering of laughter. His head turned away from the bird who felt a little better for it, not having him look at her as though he could see her fear. He did make her wonder sometimes, if there was such a thing as magic she felt sure he would have it. Worried that her companion was straying to far she lifted from her perch and made after him with the steady wingbeats that had previously broken the silence. There were headed for a tool shed at the edge of the graveyard, most likely where they kept their shovels. It made no difference to her, it was creepy either way.

Silence. The epitome of the word stood just beside the rotting tool shed in the form of a wolf. The shadow of the poorly crafted structure fell upon the figure, masking it almost completely. Were it not for the wolf's eyes, it would have been invisible. The two different colored orbs gleamed, reflecting the moonlight cast upon the terrain before them. Each had their own unique gaze. But put together created an unnerving glare, however unintentional, that could set any wolf on edge. If one was not clever, they could easily be mistaken as the eyes of two different animals.

Paw lifted, moving forward and pressing down, claws grasping at the grass and soil. The others followed suit, each creating their own time frame and beat. Melding the sounds together one could hear a faint rhythm of pawsteps, stalking it's way toward you, with no animal in sight to create it. Suddenly the muzzle of the wolf erupted into the light of the moon, teeth flashing in a grin. It seemed the darkness was retreating along the form of the animal, taking it's sweet time, teasing, to reveal the extent of the body. The eyes sparkled as they too came forward into the light, gaze seeming to stare through the male rather than at him.

The sleek feminine form of the wolf came into full view as she paused, allowing herself to be viewed. Her muscles were stiffened slightly, tail raised behind her to show her rank of alpha. Though she was displaying the fact that she was alpha, she did so with a natural flow that was anything but threatening. She did not intend to dominate this male, this was merely her stance. After but a few moments she opened her maw to speak. 'allo. The word was simple, yet nowhere near plain. She had a thick French accent, and it was clear even from this one measly word that it may be hard to understand her English because of said accent.

As a new dangerous thought passed over the wo Deki found that the avian was more that happy to swirl down and make perch at his upper back. Her claws were not unlike talons, but perhaps a little as she was not really a hunter, either way she did all she could not to cause her companion pain as she held to his back as means to keep herself there. She did not fully tuck in her black feathered appendages, but rather used them to gain a little more balance as the muscles about her hold shifted and flexed. Deki was moving at a leisured trotting pace, but he seemed to have caught some scent. Each could sense the other's feelings of insequirity and both knew that the other felt watched.

Besides themselves there was something else in those trees, or behind that shed, or somewhere. It was only as they drew close that it appeared. A femme stepping cleanly into the moonlight, her pelt seemed to have an almost silver quality, due to the mix of black and white fur, but of course parts were darker and parts were lighter. Uncertainly he shifted his weight, taking in the elegant female form. A pair of mismatched eyes, one blue the other more a golden yellow. The tips of her auds stood out, due to the fact they showed brown rather than just the black and white that flecked over the rest of her pelt. He dipped his head slightly to her, afterall it was good to show courtesy to a female, but he never fully enetered the moonlight. He was staying more into the shadows, afterall mystery was what he was best at.

Her voice was soft yet thickly laiden with some accent he never recognised, it was a strong accept that showed even in this simple word. Of course the meaning was unmistakible and body language offered great help. The word acted as a greeting and so with his soft plain accent he answered, "hello" of course his voice did come across slightly rough due to the lack of it's use, he had never noticed speaking to Raven, but it was a long time since he had spoken to another wolf.

The first thing she noticed was a reluctance to part with the shadow, as if he was shy. Shy. Why be shy? If you at least presented the appearance of confidence, others would they themselves become shy, and thus grant you power over them. The wolf's eyes ranged over the male, sparkling with calculations. His voice was rough, unused. Much like a skill at anything should that activity not be performed for a lengthy period of time. This too, she did not understand. She could smell his familiar, a raven, even before her gaze passed over it. Here envy struck a chord within her. Long had she wanted a familiar. But she was of the few born without.

Noticing that he had dipped his head in somewhat a show of respect, she came to the realization that she was standing in a rather domineering position. Not that she cared. If he wanted to cower and hide in the shadows, let him. She was not here to assert authority. This meeting was by chance. Or perhaps he had followed her here, lurking in the darkness like some big wimp, hoping to get a chance at her. Typical of all males. It was spring, and she was in heat. But she would not bear pups this spring. She had already decided that pups would not come until her pack had been fully established and running smoothly.

Her pack. She had almost forgotten it. Given, she was the only member at the moment. Perhaps this male, however cowardly he displayed himself, would be interested. She had a feeling that by being so accustomed to shadow, he could be useful as a spy or assassin. Not that she would need those. The female grinned inwardly.

Having stood in silence, with nothing but the soft midnight breeze rustling through the leaves to provide ambiance, for a good while, she finally took to words. Opening her maw slightly, her mouth split into a sort of unusual grin. It was not pant, for her jaws seemed to freeze where she opened them, and did not move even as she spoke. A trick she intended to teach to every one of her pack members to use as an interrogation trick. To help intimidate someone should it be necessary. Indeed it was rather intimidating. I am Spectre, the alpha of the Revenant. Her voice came out a little clearer this time, as she took the time to remember how to enunciate the words correctly.

Ah there was something odd about his one indeed. She spent so much time saying nothing, doing nothing but looking at him in that sort of acusing and cold manner. How it made him seeth inside, but still. She had no right, but neither did he, yet he was judging her for what he did to her. It wasn't in his nature to strike a fight, even if she was judging him like everyone else. He could almost see the pack elder, standing over him with that same look of acusation pasted across her maw and that same cold hearted gaze that showed nothing more than a lack of care. He could hear her voice, tearing his life apart 'curse' the same word repeating over and over in his mind, it made him coarse and bunr to think of how his life was judged on his pelt.

His eyes narrowed somewhat, whether it was on the female or the image of the old pack fea that stood clearly in his mind was uncertain even to him, but for a moment he felt he would attack something. There came an ever so gentle coo, oh how much it settled him to hear Raven's soft voice, telling him it was in the past. No one here would think of him as cursed she always seemed to say, so many places they had been she had said that and it soothed him a little to think it. There was however still the matter of the female. He took into account what she had said, his mind was the most powerful weapon he had, better to use it. If she had been there to hurt him she would have done so while her presence was unknown, so it was unlikely she would attack him now unless he did something to provoke her, which considering that the canine in question was Deki meant it was near impossible. At least not intentionally.

So he realxed a little. Now, down to the matter of her introduction. Even as she gave her name, rank and pack he was thinking through why and how she had done so. She had given her name, that showed she was trying to continue the conversation. She could have done this for many reasons but they all lead up to the same thing, she was vaguely interested. Which could mean either she wanted to learn more about him or simply had nothing better to do. But because she gave her rank and pack he supposed it to be more the first option. This was down to the fact she thought it would be appropriate to inform him of her status, this was either to try and tempt him into enquiring of the pack and joining, or to pull rank on him, but based on her general lack of authoritive behaviour he supposed it couldn't be the latter.

How simple it seemed to think it all through in a mere heart beat, so he nodded softly. "I see, Alpha," he murred softly as though using the word for the first time. She had introduced herself as alpha, not alphess, this showed she had no interest in him for his masculinity, or else she would have introduced herself in the more feminine light. So she wasn't interested in him as a male and had previously judged him, so it was doubtful she was interested in him for his physyc. This meant one thing, she was alone in her pack. But that would seem obvious down to the lack of scents on her pelt, had she had a pack they would carry eachother's scent. "It is good to meet you Spectre," he growled softly, not in any particular tone, but more as though he was taking a taste for the name. But with barely a moment's pause he continued, "I am Deki, Deki Bekko,"

The wolf stared at his figure, tracing the outline for lack of something else to do. Her earth-tipped harks rotated slightly, one staying locked in his direction, the other swiveling to take in a sound in the forest. As her gaze came over his shoulders, she beheld his familiar again. Ravens were beautiful creatures. The only flaw in them was the fact that they were scavengers, not hunters. Though they possessed every tool needed to hunt. Again envy struck within her. She found her mind consumed with thoughts and visions of birds. Many different types of them, swirling through the air above her skull, crying out in a symphony of caws. She was almost entranced by their melody, finding herself staring at her one dream that would forever be just beyond her grasp. She would never have a familiar. Snapping back to reality, she kept her appearance normal. Just because her thoughts may have been turmoil, doesn't mean her body language must reflect that. In fact, it almost never did.

Likewise, Deki. Now her mind shifted tracks, seeming to lay it's own as it continued on it's barreling path. Who was he exactly? Why was he here? What talents did he possess other than a familiar? She didn't care. She honestly just did not give a rat's ass. But she had to make an exception here, because he was a possible candidate for her pack. She heaved a bitter sigh mentally. Why not just get it over and done with, then not return to the subject? That sounded just fine. So, Deki, if you do not mind my asking, what brought you here? Her tone was genuinely curious, and, after a moment of thought, she added something else. Fear not, this land does not belong to the Revenant. Yet. She concluded as a mental note. Her tail swished behind her once, muscles loosening and tightening so she could keep her balance.

A paw shifted almost uncomfortably. First of all she did outrank hoim, he was nothing more than a loner, it was possible she had a whole pack that would devour him if they saw fit. He wouldn't stand a chance against a pack and even he had to admit this was threatning, but he didn't let it show. He never let it show. He just shifted his weight from one side to the other in the same fashion as the bird that perched at a shoulder. With a flicker of a brief smile Deki took in everything the female did. Starting with the use of the word 'likewise', she was of course refering to the way he had expressed pleasure in meeting the female, but the fact that she had shortened her own expression of the feeling into a single word showed a more casual nature. Good.

At least he felt secure in the fact she was beginning to relax a little. Next was a pair of sentances, these were much more formal in their nature, the formality seemed sudden but purposeful. She had asked permission, this wasn't showing submission, not in her case. But it did show that she was trying to be polite, she was trying to show a gentle nature about herself, this would seem an invitation to continue. She also asked his reasons for being there, and not in the threatning, dominant way that might have been used but in a curious, genuinly curious sort of way. This showed interest which secured him further. His head dropped, his stand widened a little. It was no threat, a simple nuetral position designed to show acceptance. A typical wolf posture.

Next to be taken in was her brief but informative explanation of the place they currently inhabited. It was not her land, this had to mean something, in fact, it meant alot. She was willing to leave her own lands, she had to have a reason for that. She had come to a land unclaimed, where only the strong and fearless would dare to travell. This showed alot about her, she had already made it clear that she was more interested in pack than much else previously in the conversation, this just confirmed it, she had to be hear looking for pack members. He smiled thinly. "I come here miss, in hope," he growled softly and gave a pause to allow her a moment to take in the soft words, yet with that chill tone to them, as though the speaker were some dark creature of another world.

"You see, I have been alone an awful long time, we both have, me and Raven. I came here to rest, but I think of other things now that I have met you, you stir a longing of company in me, and I would like to request that I have the chance to get to know the Revenant alpha a little better. You see, I now have a longing to become a Revenant myself," his words were softly spoken with a charm and roughness to the end sylobals that seemed to come purely naturally.
